It was a quiet, warm evening in early June that I had the opportunity to photograph the Apol family at an Ottawa County Open Space Park. Mom and I had met in our kids' Kindermusik class, and through our conversations I learned that she was interested in primarily black and white portraits for her home. Though I primarily shoot in color for my clients, I love working in black and white as well, and edit a lot of my personal photos that way. I was thrilled to get a chance to meet and photograph their whole family together.
As the boys piled out of the family truck, I knew we had a lot of fun on our hands. They were full of energy and ready to run!
They raced each other through the field, and when they got tired of that, the youngest little charmer picked some daisies for his mommy. We made our way down to a rustic covered bridge, and they giggled as I entertained them by performing my signature "crazy dance" before catching a few shots of their wide grins and sparkling brown eyes. Ever the mischievous guys, one brother even received a surprise ear lick, and his subsequent flabbergasted expression I managed to capture even though I was shaking from laughter as well!
As you can tell, I had a fantastic time photographing and playing with this gorgeous family, and certainly look forward to our next adventures together!
